Advice on Researching Gender & Women's Studies Topics

Use a Variety of Sources
Because of the interdisciplinary nature of Gender and Women's Studies topics do not limit yourself to databases or journals that specifically address Gender and Women's Studies topics. Use the library's list of Subject Databases to find other sources that cover you topic area.
For example: If you are doing research about women as mangers you will likely find several good sources in the Business/Management subject databases.  

Brainstorm Your Search Terms
Before you start your search it is a good idea to find the possible variations for your search terms. For example, if you want to find research about how to encourage girls in science and math courses in high school you may want to use any combination of the following:
Girl(s); Female(s); Adolescent(s); Teen(s, agers)
High School; Secondary Education; Grade 9, 10, 11, 12
Math; Science; Chemistry; Biology; Physics; Algebra; Pre-Calculus; Calculus
