Search Tips

  • Brainstorm search terms! Ex: You might think your topic is child soldiers in armies, but the databases could include that topic under any of the following subjects: Soldiers. Armed Forces, Military Personnel, War, or Civil War
  • Search in a specific field! Select a specific field from the drop-down menus often found to the right of the search boxes, such as Location, Geographic Terms, Subject, or Abstract. It WILL help narrow down your search results.
  • Limit by population of interest!  Ex: Women, Children, Soldiers, Refugees, War crimes, Military Officers, etc.
