Social Work Research Guide: Creating Alerts

Directions in Google Scholar

1. Make sure you are signed in to your google/gmail account

2. Click the three parallel lines icon at top left corner

3. Click Alerts

4. Click Create Alert

5. Type your 'ideal' search 

Click Create Alert

Directions in Ebsco databases (SOCIndex)

1. Go to the Find Articles tab on the library homepage.
2. Click Find Databases by Title
3. Click S
4. Click SOCIndex
5. Click Sign in (at upper right corner)
6. Click Create One Now (on bottom)
7. Fill in info.
8. Log in again
9. Do a GREAT search
10. Click Search history (under the search boxes)
11. Save Searches/Alerts
12. Click the Alerts radio button
13. Set preferences
14. Click Save
NOTE: Later you can edit the Alerts you set by...
1. Sign in
2. Click Retrieve Alerts
3. Click Edit alerts 
NOTE: To delete an alert:
  1. Sign in
  2. Click the Folder link.
  3. Your folder contents display, with a menu located on the left-hand column.
  4. Mark the check box for each alert you would like to delete.
  5. Click the Delete Items button.
